Empowering Women and Youth-Led SMEs: The Role of Government & Financial Institutions
Join us at the World Shea Expo 2025 in Tamale, Ghana, as we unite global stakeholders to drive sustainable growth, innovation, and economic empowerment in the shea industry.
Key Details:
Date: September 2-4, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM daily
Venue: Modern City, Tamale, Ghana
Rationale for the Event
The World Shea Expo was conceived to address critical gaps in Ghana’s shea industry while harnessing its untapped potential. Despite exporting 70,000+ tons of shea annually (worth $112.6M), challenges like deforestation, limited market access for women, and fragmented value chains persist. This Expo serves as a catalytic platform to:
- Unite stakeholders (farmers, processors, investors, policymakers) under one roof.
- Amplify Ghana’s leadership in global shea trade by showcasing premium-quality shea butter.
- Empower 1M+ women and youth who form the backbone of the shea economy.
- Drive climate action through sustainable shea parkland initiatives.
- Align with national policies like the Tree Crop Development Authority Act (Act 1010) and Ghana’s Export Development Strategy.
Why Now?
With rising global demand for shea in cosmetics, food, and pharmaceuticals, the Expo positions Ghana to capture higher-value markets while ensuring equitable benefits for rural communities.
Launched in 2024, the World Shea Expo is now an annual event dedicated to promoting Ghana’s shea industry on the global stage. It connects local producers and innovators with international markets, highlighting the sector’s cultural and economic value while driving sustainable growth across the value chain.
